Within the framework of the elections to be held this year in São Tomé and Príncipe, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities, Ilza Amado Vaz, received on Tuesday, April 28, a pre-electoral assessment and needs mission from the African Union, led by Madické Niang, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Senegal.
The meeting is part of the dynamics of monitoring and support from international institutions to democratic processes in Member States, allowing for an assessment of existing conditions for the conduct of peaceful, transparent, and credible elections.
During the meeting, the Head of the African Union Mission expressed the organization's full availability to support São Tomé and Príncipe in this important process, reaffirming the institution's commitment to strengthening democratic stability, good governance, and respect for electoral principles.
