The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities, Ilza Amado Vaz, received on Thursday the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in São Tomé and Príncipe, Eric Overvest, who is ending his four-year mission in the country.
During the farewell meeting, the Minister highlighted the positive contribution of the diplomat during his term, considering that his mission was very beneficial for strengthening cooperation between the Santomean State and the United Nations System.
In turn, the Resident Coordinator stated that he was leaving the country with a sense of duty fulfilled, emphasizing that the relations between São Tomé and Príncipe and the different United Nations agencies were strengthened over the past few years.
Eric Overvest also highlighted São Tomé and Príncipe's role in promoting multilateralism and international law, as well as the country's commitment and engagement in international issues.
At the end of the meeting, Ilza Amado Vaz congratulated the Resident Coordinator on the work developed and wished him success in his future professional challenges.
